Descriptions

Gâteau au Yaourt is a classic French cake that’s incredibly easy to make, even for beginners. Using a yogurt container to measure the ingredients, this cake can be whipped up in just 15 minutes of prep time.

It’s a soft, moist cake with a hint of vanilla, perfect for breakfast, a snack, or a light dessert. You can also personalize it by adding fruits, chocolate chips, or spices to the batter.

Directions

1- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).

2- In a large mixing bowl, empty one container of whole-milk yogurt. Clean and dry the container to use as a measuring cup.

3- Add 3 containers of flour and 2 containers of sugar to the bowl with the yogurt.

4- Crack in 3 eggs and add 1 packet of vanilla sugar and half a packet of baking powder (about 1 teaspoon). Mix well.

5- Add 1 container of oil and stir until smooth and fully combined.

6- Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.

7- Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

8- Let the cake cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan. Serve warm or completely cooled.

Note's

  • For added flavor, you can mix in chocolate chips, diced apples, or a splash of orange blossom water after the oil is incorporated.
  • You can decorate the cake with powdered sugar, or serve with a fruit coulis or chocolate drizzle.
  • The cake stays moist for days if stored in an airtight container, making it a great make-ahead option.

  • 2 containers sugar
  • 1 container vegetable oil
