Descriptions
This moist apple and cinnamon cake is a delicious, quick-to-make dessert. Soft and buttery with chunks of fresh apples and a hint of cinnamon, it’s the perfect blend of flavors for an afternoon snack or dessert.
Topped with apple slices and optionally caramelized with sugar and butter, this cake offers both flavor and texture.
Directions
1- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
2- Peel and core the apples. Dice one apple into small pieces and thinly slice the remaining three apples.
3- Separate the egg whites and yolks into two bowls.
4- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks with sugar until light and fluffy.
5- Mix the softened butter with the diced apple in a separate bowl.
6- Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon into the egg yolk mixture. Stir well.
7- Fold the butter-apple mixture into the batter, ensuring it’s fully incorporated.
8- Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold one-third of the egg whites into the batter to lighten it, then fold in the remaining whites carefully to avoid deflating the mixture.
9- Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 45 minutes.
10- After 30 minutes, arrange the thinly sliced apples on top of the cake and return to the oven to finish baking.
11- For a caramelized finish, dot the top with small pieces of butter and sprinkle with sugar before the final 15 minutes of baking.
Note's
- If you prefer a more caramelized top, sprinkle sugar and place butter on top of the apple slices during the final 15 minutes of baking.
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a nice contrast to the sweetness of the cake.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
