Descriptions
Magret de Canard is a flavorful dish featuring duck breast seared to perfection and complemented by a rich honey and balsamic vinegar sauce.
This recipe highlights the balance of savory and sweet flavors, and the whole process takes just 20 minutes, making it a quick yet refined meal.
Directions
1- Score the duck breasts: With a sharp knife, score the skin of the duck breasts in a crosshatch pattern, being careful not to cut through the meat.
2- Sear the duck: Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat. Place the duck breasts skin-side down and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the skin is crispy. Flip and cook the other side for an additional 5 minutes. Adjust the time based on your preferred doneness.
3- Remove excess fat: As the duck cooks, drain the fat from the skillet occasionally, keeping only a small amount for flavor.
4- Keep warm: Once cooked, transfer the duck breasts to an oven set to warm, and cover them loosely with aluminum foil.
5- Make the sauce: In the same skillet, add 3 tablespoons of honey and 3 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar. Stir well to combine and cook gently, without letting it boil, to avoid turning the sauce into caramel.
6- Serve: Slice the duck breasts and drizzle the sauce over the top. Serve immediately.
Note's
- For a milder sweetness, try using acacia honey or a light floral honey.
- To ensure the duck stays juicy, let it rest under foil for 5 minutes after cooking.
- This dish pairs beautifully with glazed baby turnips or sautéed vegetables for an elegant touch.
