Descriptions
This Blueberry Clafoutis is a delightful blend of creamy custard and sweet blueberries. It’s an easy-to-make dessert that bakes into a soft, golden perfection with a light sweetness.
This French classic can be enjoyed warm or cold and pairs wonderfully with a dollop of fresh cream.
Directions
1- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
2- Butter a ceramic or glass baking dish.
3- Sift the flour and a pinch of salt into a large bowl. Add the beaten eggs and mix until combined.
4- Gradually whisk in the sugar and blend until smooth. Slowly add the milk and cream while whisking to avoid lumps.
5- Strain the batter through a sieve for a smoother texture.
6- Pour a thin layer (about 1/2 inch) of batter into the dish and bake for 5 minutes until it starts to set.
7- Spread the blueberries evenly over the semi-cooked batter. Pour the remaining batter over the berries.
8- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until puffed and golden.
9- Mix vanilla sugar with remaining sugar and sprinkle on top as soon as the clafoutis comes out of the oven.
10- Serve warm or cold, optionally with fresh cream on the side.
Note's
- You can replace the blueberries with other fruits like sliced apples, pears, apricots, or cherries (for a more traditional clafoutis).
- For extra flavor, consider adding a splash of almond extract to the batter.
